The songs which are inspired by the Spirit of God are powerful tools that bring messages of hope, healing and happiness directly to His people. God has given us an exhortation in Colossians 3:16 which should be heeded by each of His children. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, with all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Throughout the centuries, God has entrusted men and women to bring Him adoration and thanksgiving through anointed music. The Bible contains a multitude of messages concerning the songs of praise to God.
One fact or characteristic concerning so many of the stories behind famous hymns, as well as contemporary praise and worship songs, is that they are born out of dark and gloomy situations in the lives of the authors. Into the shadows God sends rays of “sunlight” in the form of biblical lyrics and beautiful melodies which are later shared with Christians around the world. Thus, the Scripture presented with this book: Until the day break, and the shadows flee away. - Song of Solomon 2:17.
