Sanders was a classicist and papyrologist who taught at the University of Michigan. In addition to editing numerous volumes Greek and Latin papyri, he was the editor of Roman Historical Sources and Institutions, and Roman History and Mythology, and co-editor of Latin and Greek in American Education.
