Hoff chronicles and analyzes the RCA's creative experiments in organizing for mission in America and around the world, recording the successes and shortcomings of a great variety of structures through which the church seeks to do Christ's work. While the book covers more than two centuries of mission work, the primary emphasis is on the period from 1945 to the present.
