An introductory survey of sacramental theology and ministry in the Church of England today, this book encourages students to adopt a jazz approach' to liturgy, in which secure understanding of the historical development (where we have come from) and theological meaning (why it was significant) does not constrain contemporary sacramental ministry and liturgy but rather liberates it as a creative response to a particular context. As a result the book draws together historical, theological and practical sacramental themes, with an extended focus on baptism and the Eucharist as well as some treatment of the other five sacramental ministries' of modern Anglican practice confirmation, reconciliation, ordination, marriage and healing.
