On the Nature of the Scholar, by Johann Gottlieb Fichte was originally published in 1806, twelve years after The Vocation of the Scholar, and is intended to be a sequel to that work. This edition was translated by William Smith and first published in English in 1846. The work discusses in ten lectures, the various aspects of the scholar's life, from academic integrity, freedom, and how the scholar integrates into other roles.
