Lay Ministry in the Catholic Church

On June 5, 2004, six distinguished Catholic theologians addressed a symposium of clergy, religious, and laity on the topic of lay ministry in the Catholic Church. The event was sponsored as the Second Annual Conference on The Catholic Church in the 21st Century by the Catholic Community Foundation of Kansas City in collaboration with the National Association for Lay Ministry (NALM).

While the symposium was held in 2004, the speakers are very engaging, and the content is informative and still very relevant to the Catholic Church today.

The symposium treated the topic of lay ministry both historically and in its contemporary reality from the following perspectives:

This symposium is of interest to anyone who is serious about the role of lay ministry and leadership in the Church. Pastors and lay leaders will find this to be a must for their parish ministry library.

In addition to the six main presentations, all audio/video recordings contain the enlivened panel discussion that followed the talks as well as an introductory presentation by the moderator, Richard W. Miller II, Ph.D. candidate in Theology, Boston College. A study guide, containing materials to be used with these recordings for group study with adults, accompanies each set.
