Irregular Mare Patches (IMPs) must surely be some of the most extraordinary features found to-date on the lunar surface. Most are very small, resembling 'scab-like' patches of dried-up lunar terrain, however, some show bulbous-like 'mounds' to suggest that volcanic activity is responsible for their formation. While these mounds may be due to late-stage volcanism at a production level that isn't quite understood today, their formation mechanism and age has divided the astronomical community in half. Some researchers suggesting IMPs formed some 3.6 billions of years ago when volcanism on the Moon was approaching its final end, however, others say that they are relatively recent as young as 100 millions of years old. If such features are actually young-in-age (geologically-speaking), then the whole historical records as to when volcanism finally ended on the Moon needs to be seriously revised. This book looks at the various IMP formation processes out there, it also provides 110 high-rez imaged IMPs with additional information (lat/long coordinates, NAC references etc., ) about each, and so should serve as a useful reference to some of the most odd-like and puzzle-like features on the Moon
