Laura Kingsley is devastated by the death of her favorite aunt. She resists her fiance's pleas to remain for his ordination as pastor of his father's church and drives to the mountain community to settle her aunt's estate. Learning more about her aunt's life and finances than she realized. She also discovers her uncle, estranged from her aunt for years, robbed a bank and went to prison for twenty years. The money was never found. At the memorial service, her mother unexpectedly turns up with a man who says he's from the FBI and a cousin she never knew existed reveals himself. When there is a break-in to the rustic home, Laura realizes someone is looking for the money. With the help of Sam, a young widower who reluctantly becomes involved, they seek to solve the mystery of the lost bank funds.
