Ted Kluck is a Christian. He loves music. But he doesn't love contemporary Christian music, which has always made him feel guilty. So he conducted an experiment: For one year, he strove to listen exclusively to Christian tunes. As he journeyed through the world of Christian radio stations, CDs, and concerts -- interviewing musicians and CCM executives along the way -- he gained insights into faith, music, and the God who inspires the very rocks and trees to sing.

Laced with Ted's brand of incisive humor, Happy FM will gently poke fun at the Christian music industry's foibles (and Ted's foibles, too!), while inspiring readers with the lessons Ted learned as he gave Christian music a second chance.

Some questions Ted wrestled with during the year include: Should the soundtrack of my life honor God? (And does my life need a soundtrack anyway?) Why is Christian music sometimes (but not always) bad? Kanye sings about Jesus, so is he a Christian? There are redemptive themes in secular music -- so what's the difference between Christian and secular songs? Why is it wrong to listen to music simply to be entertained?

Many younger Christians (25-40) who grew up listening to contemporary Christian music and hearing it played non-stop at youth group functions share Ted's ambivalence toward it. Some artists they love; others they find cheesy. Ted's book will evoke nostalgic memories while also seeking to answer the very questions they often ask. Amy Grant survivors everywhere, take note.
