As The Color continues to impact the Christian music industry, the group is poised to release their next project, First Day Of My Life.
The optimistic project was two years in the making, and features six original songs that
were co-written by founding band members, James Shiels and Jordan Janzen. The EP was
recorded in Nashville, which had three high-profile producers overseeing the record with
Seth Mosley, Bryan Fowler and Jeff Pardo.
The Color views First Day Of My Life as a celebratory response to the character of God, who
guides us through the seasons of our lives. That very message is delivered in the group's
first hit single off the record, "Surprise." With a catchy, upbeat piano intro, the song celebrates the confidence and bravery that comes from a relationship with God, who always remains
faithful.
The EP launches with the hard-driving anthem, "The First Time," that describes how once
we commit to our faith we can't let go, while the groovy title track, and most recent single, 'First Day Of My Life confirms the impact of becoming a new Christian with the powerful lyrics, I saw the whole world stop right in front of my eyes/I watched the flood gates burst flowing love from the sky/I felt the waters wash over me (need full lyrics for this line)/The first day of my life/Day of my life.
The Color became a band in 2012, with Janzen as lead singer, Shiels on guitar/background
vocals, Larry Abrams on lead guitar/background vocals and Tyson Unrau on drums. The
group started touring and quickly built a loyal following in Canada. This led to The Color
being booked with such high-profile artists as For King & Country, Tenth Avenue North,
Jamie Grace, Kutless and the Grammy-nominated Building 429. The accolades were soon to
follow with the band winning eight GMA Covenant Awards from 2012-2016 in such
categories as New Artist of the Year, Rock Song of the Year, Pop Song of the Year, Video of
the Year and Recorded Song of the Year. At the same time, the group has enjoyed
tremendous Canadian chart success with five No. 1 singles, and two of these hits remained
on the charts for several months.
The Color will spend the rest of the year touring in Canada and the band's first U.S. tour is scheduled for mid-2018.
