MELVIN WILLIAMS is an American traditional gospel roots singer, songwriter and producer from humble beginnings growing up picking 100 pounds of cotton each day and farming with his family in the small town of Smithdale, Mississippi. In 1960, his music career started as lead singer and guitarist for The Williams Brothers. In 1988, Melvin started his solo music career with the GRAMMY nominated release Back To The Cross on Compendia Records. A legendary Gospel icon, he dedicated the rest of his solo career to Preserve Traditional Gospel Music (PTGM) through his PBS television special series airing in over 200+ markets nationwide "Melvin Williams: Down Home Gospel" and syndicated Radio Show bearing the same name.
