Saint Anthony of Padua lived a remarkable life. Traversing four countries of the medieval world, he preached amidst heretical beliefs and scandals of the age. Privileged, well-educated, he chose Franciscan poverty for himself, living out Gospel values which endeared him to the people, establishing him as a model of virtuous living for his time...and perhaps for all time. A retired adjunct professor of music, Dr. Whalen resides in Pittsburgh, Pa. where she teaches voice, serves as a cantor and volunteer at the Parish of Saint Raphael the Archangel, and takes part in home Bible study. Her pastimes are swimming, earthing, tap dance, flower gardening, and Duolingo Spanish.
