Augustine's main work De civitate Dei sets forth an understanding of the kingdom of God that combines various dimensions and aspects and has an influence on the structure and design of the work. In particular, the last three books of the work, books XX-XXII, unfold an eschatological conception of the kingdom of God, combining various theological and philosophical aspects.
