Gardening dates all the way back to the first time humans decided to intentionally plant seeds. Over 23,000 years ago, our forefathers began cultivating and planting their own food. By abandoning their nomadic existence, these human beings established roots, heralding the dawn of civilization.
As vital as this was to human history, contemporary gardeners are more intrigued by the following years when humans began experimenting with backyard design. This is where records began to mature into something more akin to what we do in our own backyards now.
Although pots, tubs, and 1/2 barrels brimming with plant life add enchantment to any yard, container gardening can also serve a practical purpose. Container gardening is ideal for those who have a small or no backyard. Along with flowers, gardeners who are restricted to a balcony, a small yard, or only a patch of solar on their driveway can grow a diverse array of vegetable plants in containers. Basil, chives, thyme, and other herbs also thrive in pots, which can be placed conveniently outside the kitchen door.
Additionally, container gardening adds variety to gardens of all sizes. Plants provide quick color, serve as a focal point in the garden, and connect the garden to the residence's construction. Place them on the floor or on a pedestal, hang them from your porch, or install them on a ledge. A pair of matching pots on either side of the front walk acts as a welcoming décor, whereas container gardening on a deck or patio can provide shade and atmosphere to these outdoor seating places.
