This Lent course for 2002 is endorsed by Church leaders and Commended by the Presidents of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland. This year's course invites groups of Christians to reflect on the meaning of the phrase "called to be saints", found in several places in the New Testament, and to be challenged to work out its significance for them. The course aims to encourage groups to consider their pilgrimage together in the Christian life and to listen to the stories of individuals and communities of the past and present, whose example can inspire and encourage us all. The course is divided into five sessions and aims to: widen our understanding of the meaning of "saint"; explore how the place in which people live affects how they respond to the biblical call to be saints; identify how God speaks and acts at the moment of need; commemorate saints, both known and unknown; and explain how we can plan to create communities of hope.
