Look around. You can see it. Listen closely. You can hear it. This fallen world is groaning and so are we. A fallen people, in a fallen place, facing fallen situations. Since Adam sinned, this has been our plight.
Trip Lee finds himself in an in-between state--longing for the re-creation of our world, yet still trying to navigate through it. His third album, Between Two Worlds, offers listeners a collection of personal reflections that echo the struggles of humanity and the joys offered in the solution. The opening track, "Real Life Music", foreshadows what to expect from Trip's latest project.
While 20/20 was devoted to helping people see God properly, B2W is devoted to helping people see life in a broken world properly (the way God sees it). Trip reflects on human limitations, friendships, even music - all from a biblical worldview. His intentions are to celebrate the good things, be real about the difficult things and look hopefully towards the solution.
Sonically, B2W is a seamless mesh of strings, wind instruments, and eclectic beats. With production from J.R., DJ Official, Alex Medina, and other notable producers; features with his Reach label mates, along with Jimmy Needham, Jai, and others; listeners can expect their ears to be engaged from beginning to end. Each melody provides a fitting backdrop for the heartfelt, hard-hitting lyrics Trip offers. While "Invade" is a cry for a hero to come rescue us from the darkness and brokenness that permeates our world, "No Worries" celebrates the believer's worry-free outlook on eternity in light of the finished work of Christ on the cross. The album culminates with the triumphal, worship-inspiring, hip-hop hymn "The Invasion (Hero)", which points to the truth that Jesus already invaded human history. He already defeated our greatest enemy at the cross and in His resurrection. And He is returning to make all things new.
B2W is an outpouring of Trip's heart and soul. He recognizes that we must endure pain and struggle in this fallen world, but as believers, our citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20-21). All those who believe can look forward to the day when Jesus will recreate His creation and establish a new Heaven and new Earth (Revelation 21). But until we get there, we should find delight in worshipping and following the Hero who already saved the day.
