Intertwining the humor in the brotherhood of the hunt with vivid descriptions of southern life, Be Quiet & Listen is reminiscent in storytelling style to that of Jean Shepherd's A Christmas Story, only the bb gun is a rifle, and "shooting your eye out" isn't the worst thing that almost happens.
